How to Do a Smokey Eye for Summer

With the heat of summer at full blast, it’s time to rethink your makeup routine. I love the mystery of a dark smokey eye, but the longer days of summer call for a lighter look.
Instead of rimming eyes with black eye pencil, switch to a dark gray or brown, for the same definition, but with less intensity.
After lining the eyes, use a matching shade of eyeshadow to go over the lid and up to the crease.
Another way to do a smokey eye for summer is to skip the eyeliner altogether, and just use a deep brown or charcoal shadow around the eye. If you’re going day-to-night, you can just stick a brown eye pencil in your bag to add intensity once the sun finally goes down.
From the crease to the brow, using a lighter shade in the same hue and finish with a swipe of highlighter in a champagne color just under the eyebrow and in the corner of the eye.
Finish off with black mascara, unless you have light lashes, in which case a brown will do just fine.
To complete your smokey eye look, use a berry lip stain or a sheer gloss on the lips and skip shimmer elsewhere on the face.
